Indianapolis Motor Speedway Roadtrip

I love games. Since I was young, I always wanted to be involved in the development of games. I had recently finished the graphic and 3d design of the Bristol Motor Speedway, for the Silicon Motor Speedway. G4, a television channel dedicated to games programming, was about to air a 30 minute show of a competition recorded on that track. I was excited, and the Silicon Motor Speedway had immediately signed Ocular Box on for a second track.

I boarded a plane for Indianapolis early morning November 7th, 2002. I enjoy flying, and seeing different places, almost as much as sleeping past 5:00 A.M. The flight was uneventful, except for peanuts being honey roasted. After clipping the roofs of a few houses landing in what is certainly not Chicago's biggest airport, I did happen to catch a glimpse of Wee-Man from Mtv's "Jackass".

I got on another small plane where I got to snap a few pictures from the sky (see below). I also got to check out the new G4 laptop, as the girl next to me was doing some video editing on one.

I landed in Indianapolis around 9:30 A.M., and was scheduled to take pictures around 11:00 A.M. I'd intended to freshen up a bit at the hotel, which I later discovered wouldn't allow me to check in until 2:00 P.M. After helping a pleasant member of the armed forces jumpstart his car, I was on my way to the speedway.

Though I live close to the Charlotte Motor Speedway, I'd never been to a speedway before, and like most NASCAR fans, I'd certainly never been on a track. After a short drive from my hotel, and a short wait in the lobby, I was in a car to take pictures of the track. I was completely taken aback by the size of the track. While I drove around, and talked to Annette, who was nice enough to drive me around, I also gained appreciation for the speedway's history and heritage, including the original bricks at the start/finish line.

Below are the pictures that I took while on the track at Indianapolis.
